We had the pleasure yesterday to meet with an amazing pastor, Elisabeth Karp, who opened an overnight shelter last September to help men and women of this little town. Feeling there was a need in her town, Elisabeth fought for almost 3 years to have the space over top her church set to accommodate up to 20 homeless persons of that region.
The volunteers are very welcoming and make sure everyone's needs are met. They welcome you with a meal, make sure you get a shower, clean or warm clothes and send you on your way in the morning with breakfast and a lunch. Their accommodations are clean and provides what is needed for the night for these people.
However, Elisabeth explained to us that her shelter is operating with no funding at all right now. The monthly cost of operating such a place is well over $2500 a month and is hard to support by only a small church. The community helps a lot donating clothes, food and helping last time they had a fundraiser, but that's not enough to keep such a place open.
I'm asking everyone to donate directly to them even $5 will help them. To keep track mention you're donating under our name and we will see how much help we can get for such an amazing little shelter in a rural community that needs it so much.
