Moose Jaw an extraordinary help....

We visited many cities in a month, many places with different services but Moose Jaw has a system that works well and is amazing. We've stopped at the Salvation Army were we met amazing people ready to help anyone in need. They provide clothes and food vouchers, they will gladly refer anyone coming through their door to the proper services in their city. Their attitude is amazing and there is no judgment, they make you feel human keeping your dignity intact. Asking for help is not easy for anyone and they make sure that you get the help for your needs.

We also stopped for dinner at the Riverside Mission, we've met with Jacob the Chaplain at the organization. We were in disbelief of how much help they provide to everyone without discrimination. They make sure that all their services are customized to each of their clients. They are a soup kitchen, a men shelter, transitional housing and low income housing agency all at the same time. No one leaves there without getting the help they need.

Their meals are excellent and healthy, the clientele looks happy and you can tell it's a safe place for all of them. Jacob was sharing with us how their mandate is to make sure they can get these people off the streets as much as they can. Those in transitional housing get a small apartment, help with getting back on their feet, addiction, counseling or anything they need help with. They make sure they accompany them every step of the way to rehabilitation so they don't feel alone or be stress of doing this alone. Everyone has a story and struggles to go through but it takes a village to help one person. And this is what they do here, it's a common effort to help those in need.

We were in ahhhh when we saw the model they have here, it's how it should be everywhere. The person needs to be put in the middle and asked what is it they need, the services need to be customized for each and everyone. Each client has different needs and if you simply ask them what is it they want out of life, what they want out of the organization the success rate will rise since you make them feel important and human again. This is how they do it here and we believe that any other shelters should study the way they are doing it at the Riverside Mission. Keep doing the good work and help so many...

This city so far gave us so much help, a nice lady set us up in her Airbnb, we are getting new shoes from Gimmel shoes, the Salvation Army made sure we are getting food and clothes, and the Riverside Mission is offering us dinner every day. My hat off to everyone in this city that makes it remarkable.

Just Think about it....

There is so much to say since the last post was a while ago due to difficulties with my app. We've visited many little communities since...
