How this journey changed us....

When we embarked on that journey we had no idea what to expect. We knew it would be hard but nothing could prepare us to what we will go through. Walking such a huge distance everyday is hard and our bodies needed to get used to it, but that is the easy part of all this.

Being homeless means being on survival mode for most part, not knowing where you sleep, when you can eat, being cold, and trying to find services. We have our tent but still, we have to find a spot where to put it. Somewhere that is safe for us and that no one will kick us from during the night.

We found the hardest part is to learn to ask for help, to say "hey, I need food, shelters, clothes etc...". When you're used to provide for yourself, to figure things out on your own to reach out and say you need help is hard. At first, it's a bit humbling as you have to admit to yourself that you can't do it alone.

We found that it's hard for an homeless person to find where the services are, most don't have internet or a network of people cnnecting them with others. A lot of those services are not well advertised, you have to dig to find them. When you're on the street you don't have time to pass hours on the internet to find where you can get shelter and food. Especially if you don't have an easy access to wifi.... something to suggest to the shelters is to let the word out about their services to the population.

This journey is showing us a different side of homelessness that we were not aware. It's making us grow as human as well, forcing us to rely on others when we didn't for so long. We saw so many good people so far really trying to help as much as they can, and that's what we want to see. Even the most simple gesture can mean a lot to someone who lost all their faith in humanity. What will you do today to help someone in need???

Just Think about it....

There is so much to say since the last post was a while ago due to difficulties with my app. We've visited many little communities since...
